Second edition of Gen Next on the Road presented by Lakmé Fashion Week
The Second Edition of “Gen Next on the Road” was presented by Lakme Fashion Week. The Gen Next designers displayed their collections across Delhi, Raipur, Hyderabad, and Chennai in muti-designer stores
Gen Next On The Road is a platform that provides winners of Lakme Fashion Week Gen Next programme, the chance to display their collection in popular multi-designer stores for two days throughout India.
The first part of the four-city tour was started at AZA in Delhi followed by AURA in Raipur, URBAN in Hyderabad and ended at AMETHYST in Chennai.
Each store had dedicated a section to show collections of upcoming GEN Next designers Amrapali Singh, Madhumita Nath, Sunaina Khera, and Ujjwala Bhadu.
Birdwalk by Amrapali Singh represented “Queen of Hearts”, a frisky & comfort collection inspired by a pack of cards. Ek Katha by Madhumita Nath showcased “Bliss” a collection of relaxed, nonchalant and bohemian silhouettes that intertwine the textures & patterns of woven textiles. Sunaina Khera exhibited the feelings of mind, body, and spirit that surround grief with “A Long Way Home” – where each garment represents an emotion. Lastly, Ujjwala Bhadu displayed a coruscating collection, a fusion of cultures and crafts that integrated into wearable pieces with a focus on knitwear.
The Gen Next Designer Programme has given the Indian fashion industry some of its most prominent designers like Rahul Mishra, Masaba Gupta, Aneeth Arora amongst others. Each season, the Gen Next designer selection is done by the LFW Advisory Board wherein carefully selected Gen Next designer undergoes a 2-month training programme with the LFW Gen Next designer programme mentor, Sabina Chopra.
