Mission Mangal Review: Translating dreams into reality
(4 / 5)
Inspirational, motivational and educational, based on the real life, movie Mission Mangal comes wrapped in the fervour of patriotism and occasion of Independence day, definitely remains the perfect day for its release.
Dont let faliures or series of unsuccessful attempt dampen your spirit but realise your dreams with hard work and passion that remains key to success, movie expresses the message with ingenuity and inventiveness. A very technical or perhaps a subject that may sound mundane to entertainment loving masses came as a pleasant surprise for many as the very technical subject is portrayed in simplified way topped with icing of entertainment. How dreams can propel any mission to success is beautifully depicted in the movie. Hats off to the team of movie for handling a science based subject with such novelty and acumen.
Just like the mission, movie is women oriented and Vidya Balan scores over in the movie as she successfully essays role of a multi tasker woman who is creating perfect balance of work and home, dealing with issues of teenage children and husband (Sanjay Kapoor) who is complaining all the time. She might even remind you of her last film’s character Sulu who straddles with daily house hold chores while executing responsile task of leading MOM mission of Mars to success with mission director Akshay Kumar. The way she amalgamtes ideas of home science into the space science was not only unique, but also enthralling for all. In short, she remains the reigning queen of the movie. We simply fell in love with the character of Eka Gandhi played by Sonakshi Sinha, young ambitious girl who dreams big and leads a carefree and free spirited life.
In the past few years, Akshay Kumar has been essaying diverse roles of real life characters, and in this movie also he justifies the role of Rakesh Dhawan, team leader, he has let women folks take lead in the movie, even in a semi action sequence in moving metro sequence he lets his gang of girls handling ruffians and taking them to task.
Joining the team of brilliant scientist remains Kirti Kulhari, Tapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen who have further embellished the movie with flawless performance. This was sheer delight to see veteran artists like Vikram Gokhley and Dilip Tahil playing significant roles till the end.
Release of Mission Mangal coincides with the release of Sacred Games 2 on Netflix, Hollywood project, Quentin Tarantino’s Once upon a time in Hollywood and another Bollywood movie based on real life incident again, Batla House. Hence, audience is offered vivid choice. The movie is having a stellar starcast just like other two movies. However, movie is soaked in patriotic fervour and 15th August definitely remains ideal day for the launch. Movie will definitely hit right chord with audience as feel and spirit of nationalism is the air.
Gripping and edgy dialouges, good content and superlative performance remain USP of the movie and make it a worth watch for not only masses but classes too. Movie is expected to receive overwhelimg response from mature and family audience too and be a hit with students, educationists and family audience.
The are team of junior scientist who remain dedicated and focussed to their goal while resolving and struggling with day to day chores and issues. They are depicted as ordinary next door people who create extraordinary stories.
Talking about the storyline, it is the story of how ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) had lauched its space probe Mangalyan which is oriting Mars since 24th September 2014, this was India’s first inter planetary mission, the forth space agency to reach Mars. India bacame the first nation to accomplish impossible looking mission in its maiden attemp.
Following the failure of space mission Akshay kumar is given Mission Mangal as punishment because success of the mission looks impossible for everyone. Akshay and Vidya ask for a team of top scientists to assist them but given junior scientists. to assist them. To make the matters difficult for the team budget is also slashed with just 450 crore. Team goes wise on managing budget and thinking out of the box while maintaining them. While doing same they make good use of home science. However and achieve the mission in a single shot attempt.
Jagan Shakti and his team writers, R. balki, Nidhi Singh Verma and Saket Kondiparthy have written the strong screenplay and storyline for the film. The film is just shot in a period of 32 days.
The music of the film is mediocre but the song ‘Dil me Mars Hai’ sung by Benny Dayal and Vibha Saraf, boosts the excitement of the film at certain point.
