Manish Malhotra’s Haute Couture 2018-19: Bollywood embraces middle eastern charm to showcase ‘ZWEEN’

Bollywood and Manish Malhotra go hand in hand. This remained evident from the star-studded fashion show that concluded recently. Bollywood embraced charm of Middle East to showcase and bring forth Zween, Haute Couture 2018- 19. It is the collection by very talented fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Magnificent set, riveting concept and elaborate designs added a new chapter of royal grandeur made the show larger than life. Evidently, Manish Malhotra kept finest aesthetics of Indian traditions amalgamated with middle eastern exuberance to present show. As a result, it remained progressive and ahead of times. He recreated the magic of high couture fashion and set the stage to celebrate formidable repertoire of designs.

Adorned in a printed black sherwani, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan walked the ramp with the stunning Katrina Kaif. Certainly, they bought elan and added the starry panache to the evening by keeping everybody transfixed. Moreover, Katrina looked exquisite wearing an olive green embroidered lehenga.

Glamour of stars along with enigma of collection made the atmosphere surreal. Moreover, it transported the audience into the ethereal world.

Gala evening offered a spectacle which was never seen before. The collection recreated the magic of high end fashion with royal couture and set the stage to celebrate the formidable repertoire of designs. Their creativity came alive on the ramp as all contestants walked in specially curated ensembles by celebrated designer.

The grand show took place at JW Marriott Juhu, Mumbai. Revolutionizing contemporary fashion through his designer lens, Manish Malhotra’s collection, Zween, (which means beautiful in Arabic), brought Middle Eastern-style mysticism and glamour to life.
Guests such as Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Shabana Azmi, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ishaan Khatter, Manushi Chillar, Nushrat Bharucha and Athiya Shetty, to name a few – graced the front row.

The designs of mythical winged Arabian horses in 3-D embellishments, vibrant tassels and feathers looked fabulous. Swirls of sequins and Swarovski crystals, along with intricate floral thread work embroidery – all came together to weave a sensuous tapestry of Arabian culture.

In sync with signature Manish Malhotra style – ensembles were in silks, organza, velvet and net fabrics. Above all, these were seen in exquisite shades of rustic orange, sandy gold, olive green, elegant ivory, soothing lavender and tropical blue.

There was a showcase of voluminous lehengas with ruffled bouffant blouses, kaftans with cigarette pants, saris with off-shoulder blouses, and embellished gowns with cinched waists. These were not only sensuous but also had feminine styles for the millennial bride. The classic anarkali silhouette turned a modern spin with a contemporary corset bustier. Furthermore, faux feather purses, pill box clutches, and embroidered masks added the perfect touch of mystique to the garments.

Men wore structured sherwanis contrasted with printed kurtas, paired with flared formal trousers. Oriental-style highlighted the Western jackets. Satin and silk had matched wonderfully with old-school flair with satin lapels in luxurious fabrics of velvet. Each piece accentuated the intricacy of embroidered thread work. Mythological animal motifs and geometrical prints, in dreamy shades of ivory, black and teal did wonders for Zween.

Speaking at the occasion, Manish Malhotra, says, “This year is a special milestone, as my label commemorates 13 glorious years.
