Manikarnika in true sense : Kangana Ranaut

Share
Bharat from Manikarnika is a power-packed patriotic anthem. See what Kangana Ranaut has to say

Kangana Ranaut is in news once again and this time she has bagged headlines for slamming two top notch stars of Bollywood, Alia Bhatt, and Aamir Khan. She has lashed out at them for displaying a very indifferent attitude towards her latest release ‘Manikarnika’. While it is an established fact that Bollywood runs on mutual fan clubs, in this instance Kangana alleged that most of the big stars have not been very encouraging towards her. While the movie has been well accepted by the audience the Bollywood fraternity has not been very excited about it.

This remains the norm of the industry for the stars to promote each other’s movies on various media platforms or recommending to watch the movie or simply appreciating the credentials of the movie. But in the case of a movie based on Rani Laxmi Bai, ‘Manikarnika’ that is conspicuously absent. Expressing her dissatisfaction Kangana Ranaut further said that she always went out of her way to promote movies of many Bollywood stars, while expressing her displeasure she mentioned that she had done her bit in appreciating and promoting Alia Bhatt’s movie ‘Raazi’ too but there has been no reciprocation from the other side.

She feels that shakers and movers of Bollywood are ganging up against her and there is a nefarious racket going on within the industry, which is absolutely unhealthy. In the past, Kangana has spoken her mind on several occasions on contemporary issues affecting the country at large and society in particular. While most of the big stars have remained conspicuous by their silence, she has spoken about  #Me too, Nepotism, Feminism etc. She has forthright in calling out Karan Johar the flag bearer of nepotism in his own show Koffee with Karan that left Karan searching for words or expressions.

Over the years, Kangana has proved herself to be a fearless celebrity. She accepts the fact that she is not very diplomatic and perhaps that has been sort of a disadvantage in an industry which thrives on Public Relation (PR) and Image management. So far, she has defied the odds and been a rather successful actress but it has nevertheless been an uphill task.

It seems that the industry has quarantined and deserted people’s favorite Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut. She is one actress who has taken up stance, she is the true example of women of substance who is assertive, independent, outspoken and women who supports relevant causes be it # Me too, nepotism, gender bias existing in the film industry or any issue of relevance.

From a small-town girl to Bollywood’s queen she has come a long wayIn a recent interview given to a news portal, she revealed that many Bollywood actors and actresses ‘shamelessly’ call her to promote their films, but they never reciprocate the favor.

She even questioned influential people of Bollywood Karan Johar and Shabana Azmi on maintaining silence on the issue of #Me too now she has called Aamir and Alia of keeping the double standard.

“Manikarnika remains most promising movie of the year that has crossed millions of views and they pretend that I don’t exist. Even small time actors are secretly messaging me but when media is asking them they are scared to talk about it. Alia sent her trailer of ‘Raazi’ and asked to watch it but the gesture was not returned for my film,” said Kangana

As for Aamir, she went to watch secret superstar and Dangal after she was invited by Aamir but the same person doesn’t have time for the trial of the movie like Manikarnika.

Kangana Ranaut comes from a very small town with huge dreams. She never had a Godfather in Bollywood and barely had any filmy connection but despite all that, she has made an indelible mark

On the people’s psyche, she is all that no other heroine is. She is soft-spoken and doesn’t believe in pleasing people. She is honest with her convictions and she never tries to be politically correct. And these traits are probably not highly appreciated in Bollywood as we all know that Bollywood has its lobbies and one has to be in the right books of the right lobby to make progress. Unless and until you are in the right camp you may not get the right break.

A case in this point is Arijit Singh who had a sort of confrontation with a megastar of Bollywood and for his unapologetic behavior, all the producers and directors in that megastar camp stopped giving him work. We can’t hear Arijit Singh as frequently as we used to a year ago. So, this is what happens when you rub a powerful lobby in Bollywood in the wrong way. Another megastar had a bad experience with Rapper Honey Singh and he disappeared from Bollywood. And recently this has become a trend that you have to be on the right side of the ruling regime to remain relevant.

It seems that Bollywood suffers from an acute hypocritical complex where Kangana is an exception, recently famous television anchor Arnab Goswami had complained that whenever he seeks a Bollywood superstar to be in his show they tactfully decline. Moreover, they don’t come forward to speak on very relevant issues. This is so because of the double standards all these stars practice.

They portray a certain role in films while in real life they are completely and drastically different. Their image is so fragile that to save it they avoid anything controversial and this is where Kangana Ranaut has been an exception. She has never shied away from speaking about an issue she feels about.
