After taking an year off from the films, and sweeping all the awards for ‘Best Actor (female)’ for her last role of Rani Padmavati, Deepika Padukone is all set to resume today from Chhapaak.

Deepika Padukone will turn producer with Chhapaak. Deepika has tied up with the superhit director of the film Raazi, Meghna Gulzar. Deepika will be seen playing the character of the bravest and courageous acid attack survivor, Lakshmi Aggarwal.

Deepika took it to her Instagram to announce that the shooting of film is going to start from today and she wrote, “A character that will stay with me forever…#Malti

Shoot begins today!#Chhapaak

Lakshmi was attacked in 2005, when she was just 16 by 32 year old man. But that became a no-hurdle in achieving her life goals. Even after the attack, she didnt let her self confidence fall. She was everywhere. She beated all the stigmas and raised the questions for the ‘rights of acid attack survivors’. She also turned a Tv anchor and walked ramps of many fashion shows. She made us believe that beauty actually lies in the eyes of beholder. She has hosted many Ted talks and has inspired many women of 21st century. In 2014, she got married to Alok Dixit, who is a renowned journalist and he became a major support system for the very courageous Lakshmi Agarwal.

In the movie Chhapaak, Deepika will obviously be playing the character of Lakshmi, whose name will be changed ‘Malti’ and we are assuming the role of Alok Dixit is to be played by renowned Television and webseries actor Vikrant Massey. The film will be released on 10 January, 2020.

Deepika said that she was not ‘emotionally ready’ to do this script, when Meghna Gulzar approached her with this in 2018. But, now after many workshops and preparations, she is here and again ready to sweep all the awards in year 2021. But it is definitely going to be a long break for the fans and admirers of Deepika Padukone as this movie will release almost after a gap of two years from her last film, ‘Padmavat’.
