World of entertainment is evolving everyday, whether it is through movies, webseries, OTT Platforms, supernatural TV shows, reality shows etc. In our recent issue of May-July, we spoke to television actress Adaa Khan, her views on these emerging trends and how these trends have an impact on the way of working. On this candid interview, we also spoke about Adaa’s fitness regime, diet that she follows, her favourite travel desinations and some secrets of her life.
Q. How your journey to the world of television began?
I have been born and brought up in Mumbai, I did few commercials then I got Amrit Manthan followed by Piya Basanti, then it was followed by Comedy nights bachao. I was selective about the kind of work I do. I got work on the basis of acting and sincerity.
Q. What prompted you to pick TV as a medium to express your talent?
TV is mass medium, it comes free in every household. TV was going to transition phase when I started. It gives you instant feedback from audience. TV is a complete industry, so there was no reason for me to say no to TV.
Q.Who do you see as your inspiration & role model ?
As an actress I look upto is Rekha, she has been an all-rounder and has conducted her career gracefully. I even look upto Priyanka Chopra , she is an amazing actress, I have always admired her work and the way she is.
Q. Do you cherish aspirations to hop on to the bandwagon of Bollywood?
I am open to the idea of doing Bollywood but I am in no mood to chase it. If a substantial opportunity comes I will surely take it up otherwise I am satisfied doing TV.
Q. What is your opinion about content and element of supernatural or horror being used in many TV serials today, Do you think its a healthy trend?
Supernatural and horror genre always had an audience. It is a healthy trend at the end of the day TV is all about drama and story telling. If the supernatural and horror stories are getting TRP’s that clearly signifies audiences love to watch that and audiences are looking for thrill and entertainment and not meaning in TV shows.
Q. In an era of Netflix and web series do you feel insecure about the scope of entertainment offered by the small screen?
TV is like daal chawal who will never go out of fashion. Web series boom has arrived and is here to stay. Both can co-exist the nature of content is different and in some cases even the target segment is different.
Q. How do you cope up with work and home balance?
I manage to strike a balance, I am single and I live with my father who is very understanding. I utilize my time diligently and have right supporting system.
Q. How much time you give to self-grooming on daily basis and how does your daily grooming and beauty routine looks like?
I remove the makeup as soon as I am home and wash my face with water and let my skin breathe. I sleep 7 to 8 hours and I eat healthy. I ensure that I am never dehydrated so I drink lots of water.
Q. Please share your excercise & diet plan that keeps you fit and beautiful?
I walk whenever I get time, I eat almonds, drink fruit juices, avoid fried food. I eat everything in moderation. I eat healthy breakfast that keeps me energetic the whole day and I feel one should never skip breakfast and I do light dinner.
Q. What lies in your bag and your favorite brands?
I always have my cards, cash, phone and lipstick with me in my bag.
Q. What is your favourite holiday destinations and plans for summer holidays?
I have no plans of holidays as of now but Goa is a quick get away for me whenever I feel like. In terms of abroad location of holiday I like Canada for its unique beauty and culture.
Q. Who is your favorite co-stars till date and qualities you admire in them?
Sudha chandran ji! I love her a lot she is like a mother to me. She loves me ,scolds me, cares for me and she is always there to guide me. I really look upto her, she is so much fun to work with.
Q. A lesson that life has taught you, in brief, the moral of the lesson u learned?
Love and trust go hand in hand. I had the manufacturing defect of being sensitive, I can never change it. But off late I have learned to control my emotions, I am no longer an open book and it depends on me as how many pages I want you to read.
Q. Please share some tips and habits that keep you organized?
Being punctual, living upto my commitments and minding my own business. Making a to-do list and checklist.
