Aaliya Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manju Garhwal to make a biopic Teejan Bai
Today, Aaliya Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manju Garhwal announced their idea to make a biopic on the legendary folk artist Teejan Bai in a press conference at PVR Plaza Connaught Place, Delhi. Padma Shri Teejan ji was also present at the event. The movie will be produced by YS Entertainment, spearheaded by Aaliya Siddiqui and Manju Garhwal.
Aaliya shared why she always had a desire to make a biopic on Teejan Bai’s life, she told, “She never left her singing, which eventually paid off for her. There are many facets in Teejan Bai’s life that can be written about. I felt that a film based on her life should definitely be made.”
She also spoke about the casting of the movie, “We are approaching Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan for the role of Teejan ji and for the role of Nana of Teejan Bai we will be approaching Amitabh Bachchan Ji.”
Producer Manju Garhwal spoke about the never-ending enthusiasm of Teejan Bai, “Today she continues to enthrall audiences, the world over, with her unique folk singing and her powerful voice. She is passing on her singing to the younger generation”.
Teejan Bai is a folk singer in Pandavani, a form of Chattisgarh. She showcases folklores from Mahabharta. She received Padma Shri in 1988 and Padma Bhushan in 2003. Last week, she was honoured with Padma Vibhushan last week from President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind
