Bobby Mukherji and Associates gave a magical touch to the Lemon Tree Premier hotel

Share

Bobby Mukherji and Associates (BM&A) have designed the Lemon Tree Premier hotel in the emerging business district of Gurugram. The hotel conceived as one with a unique character, from the lobby and restaurants to the bar, complete with vintage-style art and clubby leather sofas, making it the perfect place for businessmen and professionals to unwind.

Gurugram, formerly named Gurgaon, is a satellite city of Delhi in the northwestern Indian state of Haryana and is part of the National Capital Region. Gurugram has become a leading financial and industrial hub with the third-highest per capita income in India.

Recognizing North India’s way of life, BM&A started with a larger-than-life lobby, made to seem even more so through clever layouts creating space-within-space and wall-spanning windows designed to be a combined social hub with no barriers. The ambience is warm with a retro-inspired palette and a dedication to the simple forms of modernism, which results in spaces that feel reassuringly classic and inspiringly fresh. There is a clubby, luxury look with dark and masculine brown leather and brown wood.

The hotel has a refurbished all-day diner alongside a glamorous Asian bistro and bar, made part of the entrance lobby that doubles up as a large party place on the weekend. There’s a whiff of nostalgia – the restaurant is done in a rustic-glam style with traces of backlit black metal screens, varied furniture styling, an oversized vintage mirror TV and show kitchens.

Bobby Mukherji, founder and principal architect at BM&A, said: “When we got the opportunity to work with the Lemon Tree Premier property, we were looking at merging style with simplicity. “Nostalgic and modern,” a phrase that pretty well sums up what the New York hotel scene is all about at the moment. This hotel was conceptualized to recreate just that. We designed the property on the principles of universal design, allowing people of varying abilities to access all areas with ease and offering specially designed rooms and multiple suites for differently-abled guests. BM&A is known to get into the character of the edifice it designs, which reflects in the end product.”
